The Boksburg Rose Garden and Dikkops

Having had a few rainy overcast days in December, these little shrooms sprouted up amidst the wee roses.

These roses seem destined to remain tiny - between my infrequent visits, the winter cold and the bugs that decimate them they fight for survival. Within a fortnight of my arrival back home and tending to them, they yield little blooms of thanks.

Just across the road in the veld the dikkops were having their annual chick dilemma - the tiny chicks wander too close to the edge of the pavement and fall into the road, unable to climb back up. I didn't manage to get a snap of those cute clusters of fluffy feathers as my dad and I were too busy rescuing them, and once in the long grass they're impossible to spot.
